Resumo
Objectives: To analyze the repercussion of using Shantala in promoting neuropsychomotor development in children from zero to two years old without a diagnosis of neurological pathologies. Methods: Collective case study with content analysis, conducted using Bardin's method, involving mothers and their respective children followed by the Basic Health Unit team in the municipality of Belém-PA, Brazil. Eligible participants underwent an initial interview conducted by the authors, containing questions about the family's sociodemographic profile and the child's pre-, peri-, and postnatal history. The modified Denver II Scale was used to evaluate the child's neuropsychomotor development before and after practicing Shantala. Results: Thirty mothers with their respective children were contacted, with 15 selected for meeting the inclusion criteria. It was observed that the 15 children initially identified with neuropsychomotor developmental delays showed improvements according to the modified Denver II Scale. These improvements were not only evident in neuropsychomotor development but also in behavioral aspects, strengthening the bond between the child and the mother. Additionally, positive effects were observed on peristalsis, the immune system, and sleep quality. Conclusion: Shantala emerges as an accessible technique easily assimilated by mothers, eliminating the need for professional assistance for its execution. Moreover, it demonstrated efficacy, providing benefits in infant neuropsychomotor development.
