Mulheres encarceradas: o perfil das mulheres e sua realidade dentro do sistema penal brasileiro

Abstract

We know that the number of women incarcerated in the prison system has grown exponentially in recent decades. Despite being less involved in crime than men, their rights are violated and unequal, and public policies that should guarantee their social reintegration under adequate conditions are unknown. Our research is based on an extensive literature review of scientific research on incarcerated women, in addition to identifying the need to implement different approaches aimed at assessing the reality of incarcerated women, and the development of public policies and social adjustment in relation to women. in prison systems and departments. This article will attempt to outline the profile of women deprived of their liberty, try to reflect the main characteristics of this segment of the prison population and show that the conditions of deprivation of liberty are in line with the provisions of the Penal Code, the Law and related regulations. We will discuss reflections on prison institutions and the presence of women in these spaces. Reflections on women in deprivation of liberty and how actions should be taken to overcome possible inconsistencies identified throughout the study, in addition to showing that everyone must maintain their rights, no matter where they are and in what circumstances they find themselves.
