Resumo

Introduction: This study evaluated the acute effects of static stretching on the functional performance of ballet dancers; however, its influence on strength, power, range of motion, and balance remains controversial. Objective: To investigate the acute effects of static stretching on the functional performance of classical ballet dancers. Methodology: This interventional study assessed ballet dancers before and after static stretching, evaluating range of motion, isometric strength, power, and balance. Pre- and post-intervention comparisons were performed using paired t-tests (p ≤ 0.05). Discussion: The literature indicates that acute static stretching tends to produce discrete and transient gains in flexibility, temporary reductions in isometric strength, preservation of muscular power, and possible improvements in balance, attributed to neural adaptations and motor learning. Conclusion: Static stretching presents heterogeneous effects. Caution is recommended when applying it before tasks requiring maximal strength; future studies should vary duration and intensity across different populations.
