The choice between the BIM (Building Information Modeling) methodology and the traditional method in structural projects represents a crucial inflection point for construction professionals and companies in the market. Both approaches have significant implications in terms of efficiency, collaboration, and results, reflecting the constantly evolving paradigms in the construction industry. In this context, it is essential to analyze and understand which of these options best adapts to the different stages of the project. The present work aims to develop and compare a structural project, between the traditional resource and the BIM methodology, highlighting the advantages and disadvantages of each method. To carry out this study, the architectural design of a two-story single-family residence was chosen, in which the structural design was carried out using the traditional method following all the necessary steps, therefore the same step was carried out using the BIM methodology. The comparison to highlight the main differences between the systems was made following the essential points that guide a project, starting from research, time measurement and analysis of results. The BIM methodology proved to be more advantageous in the productivity, integration, detailing, maintenance, coordination, and management of a structural project. However, the initial cost of software and project time are higher than the traditional method. Therefore, it is necessary to carry out a careful analysis of specific needs before starting to implement each method.

Currently, the domestic market is experiencing a growing demand for alternative methods in civil construction, driven by the desire to reduce project timelines and costs while simultaneously aiming to increase production efficiency. Dry construction methods have been gaining an increasingly significant share of this market. In this context, this study proposes a qualitative and quantitative analysis of the construction methods involving ceramic block masonry and dry construction. The specific focus of this study is to examine and calculate the differences in structural loads, assess execution productivity, and determine the costs involved between the two systems. The adopted methodology is based on a case study, with data collection conducted through document analysis and onsite monitoring of the construction project. To obtain the estimated results of this research, there was a comparative analysis of structural loads, taking into consideration the weights of each partition, productivity assessment through the Unitary Production Ratio (UPR), and cost determination using the spreadsheet from the National System of Costs and Indexes for Civil Construction (SINAPI) and cost composition spreadsheets from the Department of Urban Development and Public Works (SEDOP). Based on the results obtained in this case study, we conclude that gypsum board walls stand out in comparison to conventional masonry, presenting notable advantages such as lower costs, ease of compliance with regulations, higher productivity, and a lighter structure.

(Centro Universitário do Estado do Pará, 2023-11-21) Silva, Ana Beatriz Almeida da; Silva, Daniele Aben-Athar Lobato da; Marialva, Lucas Lemos; Neves, Leonardo Araújo; http://lattes.cnpq.br/4207171545094669; Sousa, Andreia do Socorro Conduru de; http://lattes.cnpq.br/6242878820643068; Neves, Heline Santana Modesto; http://lattes.cnpq.br/7631889093670252
A study on multifamily housing in Belém, Pará, was designed to investigate the management of urban solid waste. This comprehensive project incorporated a meticulous methodology to estimate waste generation, identify recyclable materials, and assess the potential for energy generation through waste incineration. The results revealed that the residential complex (six residential towers, each consisting of 21 apartments) would generate approximately 230.02 tons of waste annually, of which around 59.6 tons could be directed to selective collection. Additionally, it was estimated that waste incineration could generate 8.28 MWh of electricity annually, representing approximately 10% of the energy consumption of the residential complex, using the Lower Heating Value (LHV) calculation method developed by Themelis (2003). These findings are crucial for waste management in Belém and have broader implications for Brazil, emphasizing the importance of selective collection, recycling, and energy recovery as fundamental strategies for environmental sustainability. This research also underscores the ongoing need to explore energy generation from waste as an environmentally friendly alternative. The study significantly contributes to the understanding and improvement of waste management practices, aligning with contemporary challenges in sustainability and environmental management.

The civil construction industry, crucial to the Brazilian economy, faces significant challenges due to a lack of technological modernization. Currently, activities in this sector demonstrate low levels of productivity and efficiency throughout the process due to extensive reliance on manual labor, often associated with intense physical effort, which are still predominant characteristics of traditional construction. In this scenario, the industry actively seeks innovative methods to streamline and enhance its processes. The purpose extends beyond improving the performance and quality of buildings, encompassing the reduction of associated environmental impacts. In light of this, modular construction not only emerges as an alternative but also assumes a prominent role by positioning itself as a strategic pathway for transforming the construction industry into a contemporary and efficient entity. By embracing the modular approach, the sector can respond to current demands for efficiency and quality, and more significantly, align promptly with the vision of a future where construction becomes an agile, sustainable, and highly productive industry. Therefore, the scope of this work involves conducting a comparative analysis between traditional construction systems and off-site systems to determine which one effectively meets the current demands of the civil construction sector. The main objective is to evaluate which of these systems provides a significant advantage through its adoption and offers the best cost-benefit ratio. The intention is to identify ways to drive and enhance the civil construction market, ensuring that choices regarding construction methods are strategically aligned with the needs and challenges of the sector, thereby promoting its continuous evolution and success.
