Diagnóstico sobre o conhecimento dos profissionais graduados em educação física acerca do suporte básico de vida (SBV)

Abstract

Cardiovascular diseases are the main cause of mortality in the world, it is estimated that in Brazil has 200,000 cases annually of cardiac arrest, being half in an extra-hospital environment, , so that the survival of victims of cardiorespiratory arrest depends on the speed that they are attended.So, this study aims to evaluate the knowledge about basic life support (BLS) in professionals graduated in Physical Education in the Metropolitan area of Belém-Pará. This is a descriptive exploratory study with a transversal quantitative approach, that used the field research through a questionnaire involving 7 questions of general knowledge and 15 specific to basic life support with 29 Physical Education professional of seven centers specialized in exercise prescription located in the metropolitan region of Belém - Pará. Among 12 of the 15 questions about basic life support, that evaluated the participants' knowledge, only five had a statistically significant proportion of correct answers, while in the general assessment of correct answers in questions about basic life support, there was a greater proportion of correct answers (54.9%) than of errors (45.1%), but this proportion was not statistically significant. That way, we found that, the knowledge of basic life support among professionals is not satisfactory, as evidenced in the results of that study.
