Resumo

The objective of this work was to demonstrate how the consumer protection, in different ways, has been carried out, ranging from the traditional model of State protection to the new manners discovered by consumers to solve their conflicts against suppliers. It is a monograph based on bibliographical research of doctrinal and juridical papers about positions of the subject. This research analyzed how the State began to develop consumer protection, based on the principles of Brazilian Consumer Protection Code, demonstrating how this form of action was becoming insufficient to circumvent the many faces of consumers vulnerability in the modern relations. Then it was explained who would be responsible for developing this guardianship and in ways the consumer can conquer their space and become strong in relations based in social solidarity and political awareness. Finally, the mechanisms reached by the consumer to characterize they empowerment towards State agents and the holders of means of production as the main character in the market scenario, aiming at consumer relations that are more fair and able to safeguard the rights guaranteed since Constitution elaboration.
