Resumo

This scientific project aims to describe the vaccination recommendations made during the pre-trip orientation consultations at the Traveler Orientation Service located at the Evandro Chagas Institute. This is a retrospective and descriptive study, whose description of variables was extracted from a database, through attendance files, of the scientific work entitled “Avaliação Preliminar do Ambulatório dos Viajantes”, of the Scientific Initiation Scholarship Program of the Institute Evandro Chagas (PIBIC / IEC) from August 2019 to July 2020. The data were reviewed by an exploratory and descriptive analysis based on the frequency and distribution of a set of variables extracted from the 68 service records of travelers who sought the service. From the revision of the database built for the PIBIC / IEC project, the prevalence of males with (41/59%) attendance was described, whose age range was observed between 20-25 years (40 / 58.82 %), (48 / 69.57%) of the travelers were from Pará, (29 / 42.03%) were medical students. The most mentioned destination was the municipality of Melgaço (49 / 71.01%) and the maritime transportaion was the most used by travelers (66 / 95.65%). The purpose of the trip was an educational action (39 / 49.37%), which was part of the students' curriculum. The duration of the trip was four days. About vaccination: (64 / 92.75%) of the travelers were vaccinated for yellow fever, hepatitis B (62 / 89.86%), dT (60 / 86.96%), triple viral (56 / 81.16%) and influenza (40 / 57.97%). The scientific project identified the demographic profile of travelers seen at the Orientation Service, in addition to noting that most travelers had a previous dose of the main vaccines recommended to travelers according to the Ministry of Health, which are, in decreasing order of prevalence: yellow fever; hepatitis B; diphtheria and tetanus and influenza. There is a few guidance services for travelers in the country, and these are linked to medical schools. In Brazil, there is no specific vaccination schedule for travelers. Vaccination of travelers not only includes aspects of individual protection but, assumes an important role in public health due to the risk of importing and exporting endemic, emerging and reemerging diseases.
