Resumo

Background: Abdominal ultrasound is a sensitive and relevant exam in the diagnosis of alteration in the liver, gallbladder, extra and intrahepatic bile ducts, which contributes to the diagnosis of hepatobiliary disorders and to the determination of possible surgical difficulties. Objective: Define the epidemiological profile of the main echographic findings associated with hepatobiliary disorders at a medical specialties center in Belém, PA, Brazil. Methodology: Cross-sectional, statistical and descriptive study, with quantitative approach, based on medical records analysis of patients who were under medical care at the ultrasound outpatient clinic of the Centro de Especialidades Médicas – CEMEC of the Centro Universitário do Estado Pará – CESUPA and underwent abdominal ultrasound between August and December 2019. Age, sex and main echographic findings were analyzed. The BioEstat 5.5 software was used for statistical analysis and the tables and graphs were executed in Microsoft Word and Excel software. p < 0,05 was adopted as significance level. Results: A total of 205 patients were evaluated (133 women and 72 men). There were 122 altered exams (59.5%), 83 female (70.5%) and 36 male (29.5%). The conditions most frequently described were mild hepatic steatosis (37.1%), followed by moderate hepatic steatosis (10.7%) and cholelithiasis (9.3%) The median age patient’s was 51 years. Conclusion: Abdominal ultrasound is a reliable method in the diagnosis of hepatobiliary disorders due to its high sensitivity and specificity regarding the pathologies that affect this tract. Its performance helps in the diagnosis and monitoring of patients so that they do not progress with complications and do not undergo surgical procedures late.
