Item A utilização de etnofármacos pela comunidade ribeirinha de Belém-PA: uma avaliação sobre o conhecimento médico à medicina alternativa no início do século XXI(Centro Universitário do Estado do Pará, 2021) Silva, Marcely Nascimento da; Albuquerque, Mário Roberto Tavares Cardoso de; http://lattes.cnpq.br/3233617656287982This research aims to define the degree of knowledge and use of ethnopharmaceuticals by physicians at Basic Health Units in the Islands Region in Belém-Pa in 2021. This was a cross-sectional, observational and quantitative study for definition the clinical-epidemiological profile and knowledge about ethnopharmaceuticals of the participants. The collection of the research was carried out through interviews, with a multicentric, regional character. The questionnaire used was subdivided into part 1 (identification), part 2 (Who should know and use herbal medicines?), part 3 (professionals' knowledge of herbal products), part 4 (prescription and indications), part 5 (effectiveness) and part 6 (use and safety of herbal medicines and medicinal plants). The average age of the participants was 35.9 years, being equally distributed among 5 female professionals and 5 male professionals, totaling 10 physicians. 10% had graduated from college for 29 years, 60% graduated between 6-2 years and 30% graduated 6 months ago. 80% of physicians interviewed were graduates of public education and only 20% belonged to private education, the highest medical degree found among the participants was the title of specialist, represented by 60% of physicians. It was noted that 60% of physicians prescribed herbal medicines, however, only 30% received information about the subject during graduation, and no participant performed training on phytopharmaceuticals after starting their professional career. The most difficult factor for the prescription of herbal medicines was the lack of knowledge about the subject. 70% of respondents believed in the efficacy of the therapy, and among the most used biopharmaceuticals were Valeriana (Valeriana officinalis) and Espinheira santa (Maytenus ilicifolia). There was a lack of knowledge about contraindications for the use of herbal medicines and medicinal plants by 80% of respondents and 70% were unable to report risks generated by the use of herbal medicines. It was concluded that physicians in the riverside region of the islands of Belém/Pará believe in the efficacy of therapeutics with herbal medicines and medicinal plants, they usually prescribe for their primary health care users, but they have little knowledge about the resources and application of the therapy.Item Desenvolvimento de enxaguante bucal contendo extrato de folhas de Psidium guajava (Myrtaceae) e avaliação da ação antifúgica sobre Candida albicans(Centro Universitário do Estado do Pará, 2020-12-14) Vasconcelos Neto, Raimundo de Souza; Brito, Mileide da Paz; http://lattes.cnpq.br/3493897351649944; Almeida, Fabrício Anderson Carvalho; http://lattes.cnpq.br/0946781923631085; Celestino Junior, Aluísio Ferreira; http://lattes.cnpq.br/6186863425175415Candida spp colonize the skin, gastrointestinal and genitourinary tract and live in our microbiota as commensals, assisting in various functions in the innate defense. On the other hand, these microorganisms can cause cutaneomucosal and systemic infections in humans. Brazil has a wide variety of plants and among them we can find red guava or Psidium guajava. Studies have revealed that P. guajava leaf extract has antifungal activity on Candida spp and concluded that the use of its extract is easy to access and low cost to the population, however it is still being neglected when it comes to oral health. The aim of the present study was to obtain a mouthwash containing extract of leaves of P. guajava on Candida spp. As a result, it was observed the antimicrobial activity described in the literature for the extract, as well as for the proposed formulations, however, some aspects still need to be improved in the formulation, with the product’s flavor and pH.Item O uso de plantas medicinais e fitoterapia na atenção básica: uma revisão integrativa(Centro Universitário do Estado do Pará, 2019) Sodré, Évila Fernanda Lameira de Melo; Matos, Haroldo José de; http://lattes.cnpq.br/9830983900880582; Carvalho, Ana Emília Vita; http://lattes.cnpq.br/1981562999898097; Nunes, Leonardo Mendes Acatauassú; http://lattes.cnpq.br/3512764081076675; Paes, Andréa Luzia Vaz; http://lattes.cnpq.br/4364540186589331Phytotherapy is a treatment method that uses medicinal plants in its various ways of preparation, constituting an integrative and complementary therapy modality, and its use has been increasing in several countries. In Brazil there are national policies, created in 2006, that encourage the implementation of this therapy in Primary Health Care, such as the National Policy of Medicinal Plants and Phytotherapy (NPMPP) and the National Policy of Integrative and Complementary Practices (NPICP). In this context, the objective was to investigate through an integrative literature the knowledge and the use of the main medicinal and phytotherapeutic plants used in basic care in Brazil, in order to propose the application of a MINI COURSE to assist physicians, residents of Family Medicine and Community as well as the medical professors and other health professionals in order to enable them to correct guidance on this therapeutic option. Documents were searched in the Research Portal of the Virtual Health Library, in the following databases: Medline, Lilacs, Scielo, among other bases of this portal. The key words used were: medicinal plants, phytotherapy, primary health care, Unified Health System, professional qualification in Portuguese, Spanish and English language with available text published between January 2013 and November 2018. Based on the eligibility criteria, 7 articles were selected for the integrative review of this study based on the evidence criteria of the PRISMA consensus. The results indicated that in general there is a certain "sympathy" for phytotherapy in primary care, but on the other hand there is still very little knowledge and even some restrictions on its use by health professionals, and this is one of the difficulties encountered in practice in Primary Care. Facing to this scenario it is concluded that although the use of medicinal plants is frequent in the general population, the health professional, due to lack of information, does not use this resource in an adequate way, so that this reality is modified and the correct indication of this therapeutic practice occurs as well as the consolidation of this Integrative Therapy in the Primary Attention to Health, it is necessary to train the professionals, residents and academics of the health courses.
