According to the DSM-5, Body Dysmorphic Disorder (BDD) is defined as a persistent preoccupation with perceived flaws or imperfections, significantly affecting an individual's perception of their body image. This excessive concern with appearance results in considerable distress, which in turn substantially impacts daily activities and social relationships. The objective of this study was to conduct a qualitative investigation to identify the primary challenges faced by psychologists and to describe the strategies they employ in clinical management, with the aim of understanding their impact and effectiveness. Semi-structured interviews were conducted with four psychologists, each with a minimum of six months of experience in managing cases related to BDD. The research adopted a multiple case study methodology, analyzing events within their real contexts, thereby capturing the complexity of the process through a qualitative approach. The analysis addressed topics such as misinformation and the family environment, body image and social media, clinical approaches to treatment, and the use of scales. Thus, it is concluded that due to the inherent complexity of the participants' experiences, this approach facilitated a more in-depth reflection on the subject, thereby contributing to the advancement of knowledge and the enrichment of the existing literature.

Comportamentos de risco para transtornos alimentares e autoimagem: a influência das redes sociais em mulheres brasileiras
(Centro Universitário do Estado do Pará, 2024-09-04) Barros, Ana Paula Monteiro; Nobre, Milena Moreira; Brandão, Nicolle da Rocha Esteves; Hage, Zakiee Castro Mufarrej; http://lattes.cnpq.br/0593579703870586; Muniz, Jenifer Leda Figueiredo; Nascimento, Beatriz Rodrigues
Body image refers to the subjective perception a person has of their own body, shaped by sensory, psychodynamic, and cultural factors. Over time, beauty standards and the perception of the female body have undergone significant transformations. Historically, different cultural and social periods have shaped and redefined these standards, reflecting the predominant norms and values of each era, with these being particularly evident in the 21st century with the rise of social media platforms like Instagram and TikTok. The aim of this cross-sectional study was to investigate the influence of these social networks on the perception of female body image and the risk factors for eating disorders in 115 young adult Brazilian women. A quantitative applied method was used, employing an authorial form based on the BSQ-34, EAT-26 instruments, and DSM-V criteria. The statistical results of this study suggest evidence that body dissatisfaction caused by the constant pursuit of beauty standards, pressure regarding body image, and changes in eating habits may be directly associated with the use of the researched social media platforms, along with the consumption of related media content and the symptomatology of eating disorders.

(Centro Universitário do Estado do Pará, 2024-09-03) Vasconcelos, Dalila Clementino de; Hage, Zakiee Castro Mufarrej; http://lattes.cnpq.br/0593579703870586; Coêlho, Nilzabeth Leite; http://lattes.cnpq.br/9490576254567337; Silva, Raquel de Souza Gomes da; http://lattes.cnpq.br/1375581858872660
This research aimed to understand the perceptions of women, both mothers and non-mothers, highlighting how motherhood remains central in the lives of contemporary women, despite changes in gender roles over the centuries. The study briefly reviewed the historical evolution of motherhood as a social construct. The thematic analysis of participants' narratives revealed current shifts in perceptions, emphasizing the persistence of social expectations and the complexity of the maternal role. The findings suggest the need to broaden discussions on motherhood, viewing it as a subjective and multifaceted experience rather than an intuitive and universal function. The study underscores the importance of understanding motherhood as a social construct shaped by various individual and cultural contexts.
