Traumatic brain injury (TBI) is physical injury to brain tissue, with disruption of normal brain function that can be caused by blunt trauma to the head or penetrating injury to brain tissue. TBI has a great impact on the health of the general population, having a clear influence on both morbidity and mortality worldwide, representing 10% of all victims aged between 5 and 44 years in the world, being more prevalent in young people males, causing enormous socioeconomic damage to society. The objective of this work was the elaboration of an informative material (booklet) to help patients who suffered TBI in the post discharge care of Hospital Metropolitano de Urgência e Emergência (HMUE). A methodological study was carried out in 4 stages: bibliographic survey; elaboration of the material (booklet); evaluation of the provisional material by the residency program preceptors and validation of the information booklet by specialists in the subject (judges). The booklet was evaluated by judges, being approved and validated, with the final title: “Post discharge guidance booklet for patients who suffered Traumatic Brain Injury”.
