Through an integrative literature review, recent studies that address risk factors and mental health protection of these professionals, as well as institutional psychological support strategies, were analyzed. The research reveals that these workers are subject to high levels of stress, emotional exhaustion and physical exhaustion, resulting from the exhausting nature of rescue and first aid work.
