2024. Trabalho de Conclusão de Curso (Bacharelado em Psicologia) – Centro Universitário do Estado do Pará, Belém, 2024.https://repositorio.cesupa.br/handle/123456789/856According to the DSM-5, Body Dysmorphic Disorder (BDD) is defined as a persistent preoccupation with perceived flaws or imperfections, significantly affecting an individual's perception of their body image. This excessive concern with appearance results in considerable distress, which in turn substantially impacts daily activities and social relationships. The objective of this study was to conduct a qualitative investigation to identify the primary challenges faced by psychologists and to describe the strategies they employ in clinical management, with the aim of understanding their impact and effectiveness. Semi-structured interviews were conducted with four psychologists, each with a minimum of six months of experience in managing cases related to BDD. The research adopted a multiple case study methodology, analyzing events within their real contexts, thereby capturing the complexity of the process through a qualitative approach. The analysis addressed topics such as misinformation and the family environment, body image and social media, clinical approaches to treatment, and the use of scales. Thus, it is concluded that due to the inherent complexity of the participants' experiences, this approach facilitated a more in-depth reflection on the subject, thereby contributing to the advancement of knowledge and the enrichment of the existing literature.
