The databases BIREME, Google Academic and Pubmed were used to obtain articles in English and Portuguese. For the search strategy we used the terms Boolean AND, AND NOT and OR to order the key words and delimit the object of study. It has been verified in the literature that the two-stage treatment can be performed using the "Maxillary splint" device in the mixed dentition, to approach the maxillary protrusion and in the sequence in the young permanent denture period the fixed self-ligating device for the refinement of static and functional occlusion.
