Subsequently, the application will be based on a specific case, which is the homicide of the American missionary Dorothy Stang. This episode goes beyond a mere analysis of the crime itself and broadens the horizons to discuss the role of social actors (social movements, the press, and the political class) in shaping a consensus on the crime to be submitted to the jury.The article presents the problem statement: "How did the murder of Dorothy Stang reverberate in the Brazilian political and social landscape, and what were the implications caused by the media on the structure of the accusatory system?" The selected methodology included a bibliographic review and systematic review, allowing for a comprehensive and detailed approach.
